Expert Wanted

Do you know a mountain biking coach in your community you think would be an ideal candidate to be MomsTeam's mountain biking expert? Send his or her name to info@momsteam.com.

Mountain biking is an exciting form of riding bicycles off-road over land that is rough and rocky. Mountain biking is generally broken up into four categories: free ride, downhill, cross country, and trials. Each of these has a different safety and skill level. The most dangerous form of mountain biking is called Dirt Jumping, which is when mountain bikers become airborne and do tricks on their bicycle such as back flips.

Mountain biking can be an exciting and safe sport as long as your child wears the proper safety gear and stays within his or her own skill level. They should not attempt Dirt Jumping until they are very experienced and, only then, if they are wearing the proper equipment.

MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on mountain biking: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of mountain biking gear.

But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who mountain bikes or has mountain biked, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a mounting bike expert. If you know of someone who used to mountain bike or coach mountain biking who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
