Baseball: America's Favorite Pastime

Baseball: Pronunciation:ˈbās-ˌbȯl

a game played with a bat and ball between two teams of nine players each on a large field having four bases that mark the course a runner must take to score.

Baseball is a slow-paced game that requires a great amount of skill, strength, and hand-eye coordination. Unlike other team sports, baseball has no clock, so the game continues until the last out is recorded (or, in the case of many youth baseball games, until it is too dark to see the ball!).

Little League Baseball, founded in 1939 as a three-team league in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, now has more than 2.3 million players worldwide, and youth baseball, whether it be T-ball or high school varsity and travel ball, continues to be one of top youth sports in terms of participation.

MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on baseball: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of baseball gear.

But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who plays or has played baseball, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a baseball expert. If you know of someone who used to play or coach baseball who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
