Expert Wanted

Do you know a cycling coach in your community you think would be an ideal candidate to be MomsTeam's cycling expert? Send his or her name to info@momsteam.com.

Footwear: cycling

Cycling shoes are designed specifically to clip into pedals and to transfer energy from the foot to the bicycle, and are very difficult to walk in as a result. Road biking shoes are very stiff and light and are mostly made of plastic or other synthetic materials, and feature straps instead of laces. When buying cycling shoes, watch out for fit and comfort, and make sure they match your pedals. Expert advice is recommended when buying and fitting cycling shoes.

Cycling: Pronunciation: \?s?-k?l\
to ride a cycle; specifically: bicycle

Cycling uses bicycles as a form of recreation or sport, usually done on roads and paths, across open country. Cycling is great for children as it generally requires no added weight straining their muscles and is a great form of physical exercise. Many cities across the country have youth cycling clubs that your children can become a part of to have some recreational fun and get some exercise (outside, and not in the form of their Nintendo Wii!)

MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on cycling: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of cycling gear.

But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who cycles or has cycled, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a cycling expert. If you know of someone who used to cycle or coach cycling who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
