Stop-and-Go Sports: What To Eat Days Before Games

If your child is involved in short-duration events or plays stop-and-go sports, here are some eating tips for the days before the competition:
  • Don't allow your child's muscle stores of glycogen, ATP, and CP to be exhausted by hard exercise immediately before the event.
  • Make sure calorie intake is adequate for several days prior to the event.
  • During training, make sure your child eats food in the proportions recommended by the USDA in its My Plate food guidelines.
