This is a worldwide first. Never before has the EduKick family of soccer boarding school players from England, France, Italy, and Spain gone head-to-head in the same international soccer tournament.
Not only did we have EduKick Madrid returning to the Alcalá De Henares Cup to defend their champion title...
But for the first time, a team comprised of EduKick players from three different EduKick European boarding schools competed in the Alcalá De Henares Cup.
In addition to the 15 players from EduKick Madrid, 17 players from EduKick England, EduKick France, and EduKick Italy entered the competition.
For this unprecedented event, we invited parents and directors from EduKick soccer boarding schools all over the world to attend. This includes Francesca Buco from EduKick Italy, Mick Brennan from EduKick England, Sebastian Nassif from EduKick France, Travel Sport Camp co-founder Joe Coito, and our new director from Egypt, the famous professional goal keeper, Nader El-Sayed!
For this ground-breaking event, we also invited Graham Heydorn, a FIFA soccer agent with our affiliate Ramp Management, to come to the tournament. Heydorn and other Spanish scouts are on the lookout for potential professional talent, making this a great opportunity for the EduKick players seeking a professional career.
Our gracious hosts are world-famous EduKick Madrid directors Poli and Anselmo Vicioso Aragones.
What an incredible moment, to have all the EduKick international soccer boarding school players, their parents, and their directors converge on Madrid.
The tournament started Thursday, April 9, and wrapped up on Sunday, April 12, with the championship game. With two teams entered, we had a lot of games to watch.
Plus, on Saturday, the mayor and other dignitaries of the city Alalpardo (where the EduKick Madrid Boarding School is located) hosted a special reception dinner for all the players, scouts, coaches, and parents coming to watch the tournament.
On Sunday, April 12th, attended the La Liga match at Santiago Bernabeu (the world famous Real Madrid soccer stadium). EduKick players, parents, and staff joined about 80,000 other screaming Real Madrid fans to watch this world famous Spanish “fútbol” club take on Real Valladolid.
The tournament weekend was a lot of fun, and we're thrilled to have the entire EduKick family together to celebrate the sport we love best!
