Expert Wanted

Do you know a Scooter coach in your community you think would be an ideal candidate to be MomsTeam's Scooter expert? Send his or her name to info@momsteam.com.

Scooter: Pronunciation: \'skü-t?r\
a child's foot-operated vehicle consisting of a narrow footboard mounted between two wheels tandem with an upright steering handle attached to the front wheel

Scooter riding has become an increasingly popular recreational activity for children in recent years. It offers a fun and cheap way for your children to get some exercise. However, children must wear protective gear because they are susceptible to injuries while riding scooters.

According to Riley Hospital for Children, fractures and dislocations accounted for one-third of the injuries on scooters; thirty-four percent of injuries were to the wrists, lower arms, elbows, and knees; head and face injuries accounted for 29% of all injuries. Scooters have become a huge trend in the past decade, but you must enforce a helmet rule (tell your children that splitting your head open isn't so trendy!)

MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on scooter riding: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of scooter riding gear.

But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who scooters or has scootered, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a scooter expert. If you know of someone who used to scooter or teach scooter riding who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
